Founded in 1969, Center for Community Solutions has been assisting tens of thousands of women, men and children affected by sexual assault, domestic violence and elder abuse each year. CCS operates the only Rape Crisis Center in San Diego along with a 24-hour bilingual crisis helpline and provides two 24-hour emergency shelter and transitional housing programs. Education is a key objective for CCS. They host various prevention programs and work in close partnership with local community groups and schools to reinforce healthy relationships, violence prevention and family advocacy. Annual events increase public awareness and help raising funds to support the diverse prevention and intervention services.

At this year’s Annual Tea on the Town fundraiser on April 27, Emmy-Nominated actress Meredith Baxter who co-starred in the sitcom Family Ties will headline the event. As an advocate and survivor of domestic violence who devotes much of her time to speaking out on the issues of violence prevention, women’s health and empowerment will share her story which included years of abuse that she endured from her former husband entitled “Breaking Family Ties: Empowering Ourselves to Overcome Domestic Violence . “Her message of endurance and resiliency will resonate strongly with our attendees and raise awareness and much-needed support for CCS’ many programs and initiatives,” commented Verna Griffin-Tabor, executive director to Giving Back Magazine. Meredith was recently featured on Ellen and Oprah, sharing her personal stories of fame, success, courage and transformation.
