Visionary Designer

Paloma Picasso is one of the world’s most acclaimed jewelry designers. Celebrated for creating jewelry of generous size and beauty, she is inspired by her travels and the exotic places she has called home. Born in Paris to famed artists Pablo Picasso and Françoise Gilot, she spent her childhood in Paris and the South of France surrounded by artists. After attending the Université de Paris at Nanterre, she became a costume designer and stylist for avant-garde productions in Paris.

Her talent for jewelry design soon emerged on the theatrical stage. In a moment of inspired improvisation, she created necklaces from gem-set bikinis designed for the Follies Berger’s. Encouraged by this early success, the designer pursued schooling in jewelry design.

In 1979, Tiffany Design Director John Loring invited Paloma to present a table setting for a Tiffany’s exhibition. A year later, Tiffany introduced Paloma Picasso’s first collection of jewelry.

In 2010, she marked her 30th anniversary at Tiffany & Co. with the introduction of three new jewelry Collections; Paloma’s Marrakesh, Hammered Circles, and Paloma’s Dove. These collections draw inspiration from her house in the Palmeraie area of Marrakech set among an old olive plantation.

Paloma continues to expand her existing jewelry designs and introduce new creations in Tiffany & Co. stores around the world.
