Since 1882, the Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP) has been educating women to be the leaders of tomorrow. As the only all-girls’ school in San Diego County, OLP is the epicenter for women leaders to network with young women and each other. The school boasts 750 students in grades 9-12, from over 77 unique zip codes and two countries.
Modeled after university events, OLP began an annual symposium to bring together the top women leaders across California. The focus is to empower the next generation of women leaders. Alongside current OLP students, the event welcomes over 300 guests including alumnae, other local high schoolers, professionals and community members statewide. At the annual OLP Women’s Symposium, both men and women celebrate the journey of becoming a successful leader in science, technology, computer programming, arts, journalism and much more!
Past panelists have included Anne Sweeney, President of the Disney ABC Group, Oscar Winner Brenda Chapman, Founder of Hera Hub Felena Hansen, Co-Founder of Project Include Tracy Chou and celebrity chef Marcela Valladolid.
“I am honored to be involved in a forum that bridges my professional background with the opportunity to mentor young women,” said Francesca Castagnola, Senior Vice President and Regional Manager for Torrey Pines Bank, current parent and Co-Chair alongside Danitza Villanueva of the OLP Women’s Symposium Committee.
This year’s Symposium boasts participants from prominent San Diego companies such as Brown Law Group, Welk Resort Group, Point Studio, Solar Turbines, and Qualcomm, through the support of sponsors such as I.E. Pacific, Qualcomm and Torrey Pines Bank.
