Saving children from a life of poverty through education.
Poverty impairs the emotional, intellectual, and physical development of children, and ends up costing our nation billions in lost productivity and increased health care.
Nativity Prep Academy is proving that poverty is a problem we can solve by tackling its root cause, a lack of education. “Our goal is simple; we will end the cycle of poverty by providing a high quality education, and supporting graduates through high school and into college,” they tell Giving Back Magazine. Nativity Prep Academy serves low-income families living in Southeast San Diego. The college prep mission is taken seriously; the school day is ten hours long from 8 a.m.to 6 p.m., with a mandatory summer semester.
The Graduate Support Program serves more than 80 graduates through weekly tutoring, SAT prep classes, financial assistance for uniforms, transportation, books, and fees, as well as tuition assistance for graduates attending private high schools such as Francis Parker, Mater Dei, Saint Augustine and Academy of Our Lady of Peace.
Nativity Prep Academy is tuition-free, funded solely through the generosity of individual donors, foundations and corporate grants. They rely on the generosity of people who share their dream of transforming lives through education.
