Jewish Federations of North America.
Like many of us, Kira Finkenberg watched in horror while hurricane Harvey obliterated Houston. As the wreckage and devastation continued to reveal itself, Kira knew she had to act. Without hesitation, she hopped on a plane and joined 20 of her other National Young Leadership Cabinet friends to assist some of the most impacted and desperate communities. “There was a tremendous amount of work,” Kira shared with Giving Back Magazine. “A lot of water, mold and bad smells, but the trip was worth it; our group was small, but mighty”. This is National Young Leadership Cabinet (NYLC). This is the future.
NYLC is the premier leadership and philanthropic program of Jewish Federations of North America. It is a cadre of some of the brightest, most generous, and most exciting young leaders in North America, and San Diego has a strong cohort of 7. The program is designed for dedicated women and men, ages 30 to 45, from across the U.S. and Canada who are deeply committed to building a strong, vibrant future for Jewish communities around the world.
Participants in NYLC forge lasting bonds and create a close, lifelong network of friends. The undertake annual retreats, conferences and missions to Israel and diverse places like India, Greece, Ethiopia, Budapest, St. Petersburg, Morocco and Argentina. They witness firsthand how work through the Federation system touches more Jewish lives than any other group on the planet.
On November 2nd, join NYLC member and Men’s Event co-chair, David Bramzon, for the single largest annual gathering of Jewish men in San Diego. Then, on January 21st, join Kira Finkenberg, co-chair of OPTIONS, the largest gathering of Jewish women all year.
