Miracle Babies.

Every year more than 500,000 babies are born prematurely. As overwhelmed families struggle with the terrifying uncertainties, they often find themselves faced with unexpected financial difficulties. Miracle Babies has united families with their sick newborns through financial assistance and supportive services and helped to reduce pregnancy complications through prevention, education and research. They also provide support to families with babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Since January 2017, 550 families have received direct financial assistance, and 1,800 care packages have been delivered to 15 hospitals.

One of the ways Miracle Babies supports families is through their annual Miracle Babies 5K walk/run. This year, this wonderful event will take place on May 6, 2018, starting at 7:00 a.m. at Liberty Station. Proceeds will go towards their financial assistance program in San Diego.

The 2018 Miracle Babies walk has special significance for founder Sean Daneshmand, a board-certified obstetrician with extensive experience caring for women with high-risk pregnancies. “This year marks both the 10-year anniversary of our walk, and falls on my 50th birthday. My greatest birthday gift is celebrating with those I love, and we want to invite you to join us,” Dr. Daneshmand shared with Giving Back Magazine.

Dr. Daneshmand further shared, “I have been very blessed witnessing countless couples reaching their dreams of having a family, and I have also witnessed many struggles. Throughout the years, I have learned so much from my patients about humility, unconditional love, resilience, perseverance, hope and strength. As I have said to my patients numerous times, women hold the key to a healthy future for our children. The neonatal intensive care unit can be a very lonely place and with the community’s embracement of our cause, we will send a loud and clear message to our struggling parents and their children: We hear you; we are here for you. We support you.!”
