We all hear it all the time. Think positive and it will change your life. Well, just how much impact does negativity have in your life?

Research proves that the more pessimistic your thoughts are, the more stress you will experience. Stress lowers your immune system and is a major cause of diseases.

Here is a list of things that you can do that will drastically change the way you view life, if your commit yourself to practicing it every day.

1. Surround yourself with positive people

A friend told me “you seem bitter” and someone replied “she is far from it, she is so happy and positive I think your presence makes her bitter” I laughed and realized this was the perfect example of how someone can impact your life. It is nice to be able to help friends in their lives but, I like to surround myself with people that see their life and work as a blessing instead of a burden. For example, they see their children as a privilege instead of a chore, they know life is hard but still love it and embrace it or they have an inner drive to succeed and are passionate about life.

2. Exercise

Your mood and energy will improve significantly. Do it in the morning so you can set the tone for the day. If you have a job where you are always sitting. Walk to lunch, take the stairs, take a ten-minute walk. It adds up during the day.

3. Eat healthy

Add more greens and fruits to your day. Reconsider what is healthy. We tend to think a plate of grilled chicken with broccoli is boring, but maybe try for healthier indulgent recipes. There are many restaurants and recipes offering good healthy food.

4. Sense of humor

There is a Mexican saying that I love: “mejor reír que llorar”, better to laugh than to cry. I really take this to heart. I like to surround myself with people that make me laugh.

5. Spend time with loved ones

I personally think spending time with my loved ones is more precious than anything. In a fast-paced world, where we are constantly rushing, don’t forget what is truly important. Try to connect as much as you can with your family. At the end, they are the only ones that will always be there for you no matter what.
