One day, every family will know the joy of a healthy baby. Until then, there is the March of Dimes.
March of Dimes is about all babies; they are the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health, dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
There are 4 million babies born in the United State each year, giving them 4 million reasons behind an urgent mission. In San Diego, over 45,000 babies are born each year, with 1-in-10 or 4,500 born too soon. Today, March of Dimes continues the fight against preterm birth with the ‘Healthy Babies Are Worth the Wait’ initiative. A baby is full term at 39-weeks, but more and more babies are being scheduled for delivery too soon for non-medical reasons. It is best to stay pregnant until at least 39 weeks. March of Dimes is working hard to be sure that every baby is born ready, healthy and strong.
