gtk MARCELA COLOKURIS“You are your own style, be unique, wear what you feel…express yourself.”

Born in Texas, Marcela Colokuris was raised in Mexico City. She completed her studies at FIDM in Los Angeles and then to Instituto di Moda Burgo in Monterrey, Mexico. Her passions have always been fashion and the arts, as well as a professional dancer of jazz, ballet and hip-hop.

Marcela’s kind heart and devotion to giving back have inspired her to volunteer for various non-profits. One of the most touching gifts was to donate her hair to a child fighting cancer, whose final wish was to have long blonde hair. She also participates in a fundraising event called “Soñar Despierto” in Tijuana and donates her time to EnerJazz School of Dance by dancing at events to help raise funds for the Castro Limon Foundation. Last year, Marcela began volunteering at Migrant Outreach teaching immigrants the English skills and language.

In her most recent projects, Marcela has partnered with Melero Boutique & Gallery to launch her clothing collection in the United States. Previously available on at Palacio de Hierro in Mexico, her designs are inspired by her world-wide travel and studies. She plans to seek her Master’s Degree at Institute Marrangoni in Milan, Italy, taking the opportunity to inspire her fashion style for her future collections.

“My commitment to my future clients is to bring glamour, style and an elegant figure through my designs, for that special event where every woman wants to impress,” Marcela tells Giving Back Magazine.

Starting in April 2012, you will be able to acquire her fascinating designs at Melero Boutique & Gallery in Little Italy. Marcela will also be working in custom designs for specific client needs whether gowns and cocktail dresses.
