“You have skin cancer.” When Sofia H. heard this, she got scared and sad… and cried. “Lord, why? Why is this so? My husband and son got scared too because we did not expect it. They said to not be sad, they are going to give you surgery,” explained Sofia. “We are so grateful for the help that they were giving us.”
Sofia H. is a Project Access patient who was referred to Dr. Anne Truitt, a dermatologist and Mohs Micrographic surgeon with Skin Surgery Medical Group. “I’m very grateful to Doctor Truitt. She treated me well and would encourage me. She cared for me a lot, and I for her. She would support me, hug me. God gave her that talent… I am so grateful for her.”
Since childhood, Dr. Anne Truitt has wanted to help others and do something that touched her heart. “Do what you love,” has been Dr. Truitt’s motto; she really enjoys dermatology and its surgical aspects. When asked what she liked most about Project Access, Dr Truitt replied, “They are some of the sweetest people I ever met. The patients are so grateful that someone is taking their time to talk with them and treat them.”
“To whom much is given, much is required,” a refrain heard often by Dr. Anne Truitt as she was growing up. “We have a unique gift and training. We can use that gift and give back to the community to those who are not as fortunate.”

“Usted tiene cáncer de piel”. Cuando Sofía H. escucho esto se asustó, entristeció y…lloró. “Dios mío, ¿por qué? ¿Por qué pasa esto? Mi marido también se asustó porque no se lo esperaba. Me dijeron que no me entristeciera, que me iban a operar” explico Sofía “Estamos muy agradecidos por la ayuda que nos brindaron”,
Sofía H, es paciente del proyecto Access y fue derivada a la Dra. Anne Truitt, dermatóloga y cirujana de Mohs del Skin Surgery Medical Group. “Estoy muy agradecida a la Dra. Truitt, me trató bien, me contuvo mucho, se preocupó, me abrazó y apoyó, la aprecio mucho. Dios le dio un talento… y yo estoy muy agradecida a ella.”
Desde la infancia, la Dra. Anne Truitt sintió la necesidad de ayudar a otros y hacer algo que tocara su corazón. “Haz lo que amas” es el lema de la Dra. Truitt. Ella verdaderamente disfruta de la dermatología y de sus aspectos quirúrgicos. Al preguntarle qué es lo que más le gusta del Proyecto Access contestó, “son algunas de las personas más cálidas que conozco, los pacientes están agradecidos por el tiempo que les brindamos, tanto de tratamiento como de escucha”.
“A quien mucho se le da, mucho se le exige” reza el refrán que tantas veces escuchara la Dra. Truitt durante su infancia. “Tenemos un don y un entrenamiento único, lo podemos usar para brindárselo a la comunidad a quienes no son tan afortunados.”
