Wells Fargo’s NeighborhoodLIFT Program.

It all started with the decision to empower some of San Diego’s struggling neighborhoods. Earlier this year, Wells Fargo’s NeighborhoodLIFT program was implemented locally with the purpose to help hundreds of San Diegans become homeowners. Building upon that foundation, Wells Fargo recently awarded $500,000 to local organizations.

Continuing their housing efforts, a $100,000 grant was donated to the San Diego Housing Commission. The funds will be used to implement the “Housing Our Heroes” campaign which will provide housing opportunities for nearly 1,000 homeless veterans. As veterans are a vital part of the community, $75,000 has been given to the Veterans Association of North County so that veterans can successfully transition from active duty into the telecommunications industry.

Much of San Diego’s NeighborhoodLIFT funds will be put towards generating employment opportunities. The Center for Employment Training will use $75,000 to provide training for construction related jobs. Their efforts will largely focus on solar energy through job training and educating new homeowners. The $100,000 grant to Saint Vincent de Paul Village will allow 1,000 people to learn vital employment skills. The funds donated to both of these organizations will be able to make a significant improvement in the San Diego workforce.

While housing and jobs are imperative to improving many neighborhoods, art is also an important part of San Diego culture. With this understanding, Wells Fargo has granted $100,000 to A Reason To Survive, funding a three-year initiative to beautify areas of the South Bay region.

Wells Fargo’s dedication to the San Diego community, generosity, and collective effort with City of San Diego, National City, NeighborWorks America, and its local network member, NHSIE, will provide a higher quality of life for thousands of San Diegans and serve as a building block to a better San Diego.
