Tijuana at Heart.
Kurt Honold is someone I admire not only for his passion to promote the great city of Tijuana, but for his ability to balance his life, staying healthy and maintaining a beautiful family and marriage.
From a very young age, Kurt’s father taught him and his brothers the importance of exercise. Exercising is part of his life and tries to do it every single day whether going to the gym or mountain biking. Being active helps his mind stay fresh and think more clearly!
Kurt wakes up around 5:45 am and has a cup of coffee with his wife, they talk about their day and watch the news. He goes to the gym for an hour and a half with his routine consisting of 45 minutes of strength training and 45 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. Every morning, he has a green juice with kale, spinach, celery, ginger and turmeric. For lunch he usually eats a grilled chicken salad and for dinner salmon with rice and roasted vegetables. For dessert he has a date or a slice of apple pie. Kurt’s workweek is an intense one as he arrives at the office at 9 A.M. and works until 8 P.M. Every day is busy with meetings and frequent travel.
Kurt was recently reelected as the President of the business counsel in Tijuana to develop the economy and public security. Kurt shared with Giving Back Magazine, “It is a great honor and a huge responsibility to know that the leaders of 16 organizations that make up the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial have chosen me to represent them for a second consecutive year.”
In terms of business, for Honold it is essential to promote new business vocations and help develop emerging industry clusters. The strengthening of the binational mega commercial region is fundamental to him and the business council.
Kurt Honold has had the opportunity to serve Tijuana since 2007, starting with his years as Mayor and now with the Consejo Coordinador Empresarial. But he believes everyone can help support the city they love; even small efforts and volunteering can help the common good. Kurt’s heart is with his city and he always works to develop collaboration between industry, government and the citizens.
