Preserve, Inspire, Educate, Celebrate!
The San Diego Air & Space Museum has the distinction of being the official air and space museum and education center for California. The Museum is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution and was the first aero-themed Museum to be accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Jim Kidrick’s leadership of the San Diego Air & Space Museum has earned him the well-deserved honor of “Most Admired CEO” by San Diego Business Journal.
10 Things About Jim Kidrick & the San Diego Air & Space Museum
#1 I was born in Bremerton, Washington, lived in Tacoma and Edmonds, and from age 10 on in Centralia, which is mid-way between Portland and Seattle.
#2 My first job was a Paper Boy – taught me a lot about people and business that I still use today…
#3 My favorite restaurant is Perry’s for breakfast or lunch. For dinner, I like to go to the Brigantine in La Mesa with my wife…
#4 I like both dogs and cats but we have three dogs… two Bichons and a Poodle Terrier mix – all Rescues
#5 My dad always says, “To be able to negotiate a good deal, you must be prepared to walk away from a bad one!”. At age 91, my Dad has a lot of good advice.
#6 I’m an old west fan, love visiting old Ghost towns… and I participate in Cowboy Action Shooting competitions
#7 I enjoy the creation of world-class opportunities, which benefit many and involving those who invest so much in the betterment of our world… win-win! I care about people!
#8 I have been with the Museum for 13 and ½ years and the best part of my job is still the people I work with daily, our culture as a team! I’m also blessed by the best Board of Directors anywhere; they can do anything… and I’m not kidding!!!
#9 The proceeds from our Legends of Flight gala go towards the Museum’s education programs. Education is the number one priority of the San Diego Air & Space Museum. Through guided tours, classes, outreach programs, competitions and much more, visitors of all ages can be inspired and educated in science, technology, engineering and math.
#10 Over the past 29 years, a total of $896,500 in scholarships has been awarded by the Museum to 304 deserving students. In 2018, 11 graduating seniors from San Diego County high schools received a total of $41,500 in scholarships from our Museum.
