North Park’s Historical Gem.
With a passion for people and history, San Diego native, Jim Cooley, has created the most unique collection of antiques and automobiles in San Diego, many of which have local connections. Having lived a full life with many interests, Mr. Cooley has amassed a truly one of a kind collection!
His collection can be viewed at the corner of Park and El Cajon Boulevards in University Heights at the J.A. Cooley Museum. This San Diego gem boasts treasures from the past including a variety of vintage automobiles that are over a century old. The modestly sized museum is rich with culture, filled to the brim with valuable and intriguing artifacts including model trains, antique toys, typewriters, phonographs, cameras, spittoons, even a working wooden phone booth from the 1940s.
With so many fascinating artifacts for visitors of all ages to enjoy, it is something everyone can go visit and enjoy. As the owner and curator of the museum, Mr. Cooley takes great pride in the collection he has created and finds even greater joy in sharing it with others. He is always willing to share stories and background information about the interesting items in the museum, so you can genuinely appreciate the memorabilia; even posing for pictures!
