Heels2Heal, founded in 2009 by a group of dedicated women whose mission is to support local non-profit organizations that promote healing and education for underprivileged, critically ill, and abused women and children, will hold its 4th Annual Fashion Gala on October 19, 2013. This exclusive event will take place at the private estate of Alex and Laleh Roudi in La Jolla and will benefit Miracle Babies for a second year. Miracle Babies is a local nonprofit that provides financial and emotional assistance to families with critically ill newborns in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The gala will feature an interactive fashion show presented by New York Fashion Designer Yigal Azrouel, who will preview his Spring 2014 Collection. Emceeing this soiree will be event Co-Chairs Miriam Smotrich & Laleh Roudi.
“All of our members are devoted mothers and family members who want to help less fortunate mothers and families at a most crucial time,” said Nahieli Caldwell, a founding member of Heels2Heal. “We’re truly excited to benefit Miracle Babies again this year. I have a miracle baby of my own and know first-hand the pain and stress of having to see your baby fighting for her life. Unfortunately, there are so many other babies struggling for their lives too; these fragile and vulnerable babies are in desperate need of your support!” Heels2Heal has raised more than $175,000 for non-profit organizations who are dedicated to saving the lives of infants and toddlers through our annual Fashion Show Charity Galas.
Sean Daneshmand, MD, Co-Founder of Miracle Babies, believes that every child born is a miracle. Some babies, though, need a little extra help as they begin their lives and this organization is dedicated to these babies and their loving parents.
“Miracle Babies,” said Dr. Daneshmand, “provides direct financial and emotional assistance to families with a critically-ill newborn in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Having a child in the NICU for weeks to months at a time is an experience that cannot easily be described. The emotional strain is taxing on new parents, in addition to the financial toll of caring for a loved one in the NICU. Families often live far away from the hospital and struggle with the unexpected costs of gas, parking, lodging or caregiving for their other children. Often, mothers cannot even make it to the NICU every day to bring breast milk to their child.”
