On a magnificent wintery evening next February, supporters of San Diego’s Charity Ball will gather, as they have for 106 years, for a glamorous night of dining and dancing in support of the well-being of our region’s greatest resource – our children.
For more than a century, the volunteer-organized Charity Ball has brought together community leaders and supporters for a night of elegance and entertainment that has long lasting impact on the children of our region.
Launched in 1909 by Lena Wakefield Sefton, The Charity Ball has welcomed generations of families over the decades and continues to help Rady Children’s Hospital keep its covenant to the community – to raise the bar, to seek new treatments and cures and to ensure that it meets the needs of our region’s families now, and for many years to come.
The tradition continues on February 20, 2016 as you are invited to join us at the 107th Anniversary Charity Ball, Heart of Gold, at the spectacular Hotel del Coronado. The proceeds will support the Crisis Stabilization Unit at Rady Children’s and provide much-needed mental and behavioral health care for the children, adolescents and their families.
This year the Charity Ball committee and supporters will honor long-time San Diego residents, Evelyn and Ernest Rady, for their vital and extraordinary contributions to the Hospital as well as celebrate their country of origin – Canada. Heart of Gold promises to be a delight to the senses – with a Canadian-inspired theme, menu and music.
More than simply an evening of festivities, fine food, stellar music and dancing, the Charity Ball is a unique fundraising event; there are no silent or live auctions during the event. Participants demonstrate their generosity in advance by engaging as sponsors and advertisers in the Charity Ball souvenir program, an all-color edition for the first time.
