One Voice at a Time.
Located in Mission Valley, the San Diego Childhood RiteCare® Language Center (CLC) is committed to providing children with the building blocks for a lifetime of improved communication and confidence through comprehensive speech-language evaluations and intensive speech therapy with no required fees to the families. Since opening in 1981, they have provided more than $5.5 million in services to children ages 2-12 throughout San Diego County. The San Diego RiteCare® CLC is a philanthropic initiative of the Scottish Rite Valley of San Diego, a concordant body of Freemasonry.
More than 35,000 children in San Diego have a debilitating speech or language disorder that prevents them from communicating effectively with their family, friends and loved ones. Nearly half of these children have not received intervention services in the past year, many due to their families’ inability to afford the high cost of services.
The licensed and board-certified speech-language pathologists at the CLC provide complete diagnostic evaluations and weekly individual or small group therapy sessions to children who exhibit delays and disorders in articulation, phonology, receptive language, expressive language, stuttering, voice, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Parents observe sessions through observation windows and receive a home program to offer additional support.
Every child who is accepted into the Center receives up to 18 months and $7,000 in speech-language therapy services at no cost to their families. Without RiteCare®, these children would slip through the cracks!
As a nonprofit organization that does not receive any government funding, contributions received from the community are vital to their success. On March 1, the “1 Million Cheers for Communication” campaign was launched with the goal of raising $1 million to provide speech and language therapy.
