Mary and Hudson Drake
Philanthropists Mary and Hudson Drake have dedicated their lives to Giving Back to others around the world. At the center of their hearts is a focus to give back for others to have a better future.
Currently Mary Drake is the event chair for ROMP!, a fundraiser gala for the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego. “We feel proud and honored to support and help provide homes for families while their child is treated for serious illness,” Mary tells GB Magazine.
Originally from Havana, Cuba, Mary moved to California where she attended college. Ten years ago she met and fell madly in love with “the greatest man in the world”, Hudson and subsequently moved to La Jolla. Mary has always been passionate about interior design and she owned her own interior design business furnishing hotels, restaurants and luxury homes. Mary has a passion for animals; she owns three dogs and two cats and has rescued each one of them.
Hudson started his career after college as a White House Fellow; from there he went into the aerospace industry and began working for Teledyne Ryan here in San Diego. His work there included electronic and radar systems that put the Saturn Missions on the Moon and Viking on Mars as well as building the Apache helicopter. Now retired, Hudson enjoys fly-fishing all over the world and has caught fish in far off places such as Mongolia and Tierra del Fuego.
Mary and Hudson feel very blessed and fortunate, “We have certainly saved the best for last, we are married to the love of our lives, and there is nothing we would change.”
