Franchesca Gonzales Otáñez is ambitious, talented and passionate and has used her attributes to launch her successful San Diego Dance Academy. Born 31 years ago in San Diego, her mother instilled in her from a young age to study ballet, tap, and jazz motivating her later obtain a BA in Dance Education at San Diego State University.
“Dance has always transported me to a magical world, and that is my focus when I teach young girls,” she comments to Giving Back Magazine.
After graduating she worked in an art school where music, art and dance classes were taught. At that point, she decided that she wanted to focus on teaching dance in the style of the old-fashion schools in Russia and Cuba. Thanks to the support and love of her husband, Franchesca opened San Diego Dance Academy. The academy offers certified teachers in dance that contribute their passion and creativity to the curriculum.
At San Diego Dance Academy no one is left out, they offer grant programs especially for kids who want to dance but cannot for financial reasons. Franchesca says, “It would break my heart to know that a child cannot dance because they do not have the money to pay for classes, dance should be within the reach of all children.”
Franchesca’s focus and passion for dance has transcended borders and has been praised in Chula Vista for the annual production of the Nutcracker where the students participate.
