Never Say Never…

In 1990, Linda Niggli’s husband, Jack had his second heart attack and was taken out of the house by paramedics while their three children watched. Jack survived, became a stay-at-home dad and mentored their children. Jack was later diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

By the end of Jack’s life, he saw each child graduate from college, and he was able to walk his daughter down the aisle (not a simple task for a man with Parkinson’s). Linda’s first-hand knowledge of heart disease has been the impetus for her volunteer work at the American Heart Association and their upcoming Go Red For Women.

10 Things About Linda Niggli & American Heart Association

#1. I grew up in Groosepoint Farms, Michigan and by age three, we moved to Buenos Aries, Argentina, then back to beautiful California.

#2. When we lived in La Canada, I was a finalist for the Tournament of Roses Princess Court and was listed in “Who’s Who for American Teenagers”

#3. We love Hawaii for many reasons… but the Seychelles Islands are magical. A long trip, but so worth it! The islands of Mahe, Praslin and La Digue are still remote with incredible waters and wonderful people.

#4. Upon turning age ten, I take each grandchild to a special “learning” destination. We started in 2017 with the first going to Washington DC.

#5. We have a 17 year old Calico cat named Ginger. She was rescued by our son-in-law when he found her lost, trying to catch fish in a koi pond. She is precious, kind and loves sink “showers”, which is highly unusual for a cat!

#6. I developed the “Solstice” sunglasses concept for Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy (LVMH). I was known as the “Sunglasses Advisor to the Stars.”

#7. Fortunately, I am a positive person who views things from the glass half full side. If it is a really tough day then I generally try to “regroup” and remind myself “keep the end in mind.” In more serious situations, I use prayer, meditation and a listening ear.

#8. Mike and I had lost our spouses to long illnesses; he was married 45 years and I was married over 33. A mutual friend introduced us and almost instantly we knew… one year later, we were married.

#9. I have a sign in our Texas home that reads: “Once in a while in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives you a fairy tale.”

#10. Mike and I support a few choice charities that mean a lot to us. I enjoy giving back to the American Heart Association including national work and I love working with the survivors on our annual fashion show at the Go Red For Women Luncheon.
