Fall is here again. As the weather changes, so do our skin, cravings and exercise routines. However, fall is a great opportunity to set the tone for a healthy holiday season. These tips can help you get started on the right track:

Eating Healthy

First, stock up on healthy foods that are in-season. Many of these foods are full of vitamins and antioxidants and even taste better during this time of year.

Recommended Fall Foods:Dates, pumpkin seeds, cauliflower, apples, squash, tangerines, sweet potatoes, pomegranates and butternut squash.

From roasting cauliflower in the oven to making coconut date bars or butternut squash soup, you can whip up delicious healthy recipes that are not only good for you but are also enjoyable. I have included a healthy recipe that you will love as much as I do.



  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 pound very soft dates
  • 1/4 cup walnuts toasted and finely chopped


  1. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons coconut over the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. Firmly press dates into coconut, covering bottom of dish.
  3. Sprinkle with remaining tablespoon coconut and the walnuts, gently pressing into dates.
  4. Cut into 2-inch squares.


Caring for Your Skin

This is the perfect time to intervene with extra skin care efforts to prevent drying and cracking often caused by the chilly winter weather. Hopefully you have maintained a good skin routine during the year, but during fall it is especially important to exfoliate and moisturize to get rid of dead skin cells and keep skin glowing. There are a lot of amazing products out there, but you can also make your own exfoliating scrub at home which is as simple as mixing 1 cup of sugar and ½ cup of almond or coconut oil. You can also add a few drops of a fragrance oil that you love. Make sure you also moisturize; I like to end the night with heavier creams to wake up with softer skin.

Staying Active

I am big on sticking to the same workout throughout the year, but that is just my personality. I know what works for me, so I just try and follow the same program every day, working different body parts.However, for many people this is not the case. As the seasons change, so do our moods and energy levels.Do not feelguilty if you are not working out every day but try to do something active. Whether you take a walk orride your bike, everything counts. Plus, even a little activity is better than sitting all day.
