From October 19th through the 22nd, San Diegans will have the opportunity to see sailing as they have never seen it before. The Extreme Sailing Series will be in town for this event that has made its way around the world.
During the competition, the organization will raise money for two San Diego charities; the SEAL Family Foundation which provides support for Naval Special Warfare families as well as Rady Children’s Hospital, contributing vital funding for research and resources. Additionally, Friday the 20th will be a Military Appreciation Day with free admission for two into the VIP tent.
Founded in 2007 by OC Sports, the Extreme Sailing Series is the first rregate circuit of its kind. Now in its 11th season, the event will bring seven teams together to compete for the championship. As the teams of world class competitive sailors work together to race hydro-foiling GC32 catamarans to victory on a short course, each of the five members is essential to sailing across the finish line.
Spectators can expect to get caught up in the excitement as they watch the teams go hull to hull in the water just off the shore of Harbor Island, or take advantage of the opportunity to be the Guest Sailor on the boat. Do not miss this rare event that has completely changed the face of professional sailing.
