KCM Group leads the way for business in the region in need of expanding their offices and facilities. Local law firm Procopio recently expanded its operations at two locations; one in downtown San Diego and the other in Del Mar Heights. The law firm needed additional office space to better accommodate its attorneys and staff while ensuring more state-of-the-art client meeting and event space. Approximately 62,000 square feet of office space was either added or refurbished in the expansion.
“Our focus is not growth for growth’s sake, but rather a result of our ongoing commitment to providing the highest level of client service,” said Managing Partner John D. Alessio. “Through strategic hiring of top legal talent and a focus on modern and technologically sophisticated facilities, we are able to better serve our clients and the greater community.”
As the construction project manager for Procopio, KCM Group led the expansion effort and helped the law firm navigate the final design, builder selection and construction processes, which also included development and administration of the construction contracts and assisting the owner and landlord with leasing requirements.
“This project came in on time and on budget and helped enhance the brand and operations of a leading San Diego company,” KCM Group Principal Gordon Kovtun shared with Giving Back Magazine. “We served as problem solvers and quarterbacks for a team of specialists, and we are pleased to have created these new facilities for their clients, attorneys and employees.”
Procopio expanded its downtown San Diego location, a 22-story office tower known as the Procopio Tower. Previously occupying five floors as the building’s largest tenant, the firm now occupies a sixth floor. The build-out resulted in 22 percent growth to 107,957 square feet of office space. The new floor underwent a custom renovation prior to occupancy and includes a state-of-the-art conference and training center.
Significant expansion also occurred at Procopio’s Del Mar Heights office. Previously occupying an entire floor, Procopio now occupies two. The result was a 39 percent increase in space to more than 40,000 square feet. As with the firm’s downtown office, both floors of the Del Mar Heights office underwent a significant remodel before occupancy. Along with modern office and event space, the office features custom skylights and access to multiple open-air balconies. The expansion also allowed Procopio to dedicate several hundred feet of office space to startup entrepreneurs in its ongoing LaunchPad incubator program.
