Advancing the field of medicine
Dr. Sabrina Guillen Fabi is a bi-cultural, bi-national board-certified dermatologist in San Diego. She was born and raised in Chicago by her Ecuadorian parents who instilled their heritage and language to both her and her brother. During her childhood, she spent her summers with her family in Ecuador and Mexico learning about her family and culture.
She attended the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, where she majored in Spanish to learn more about her ancestral history, with a concentration in Biology. During college, her interest in tropical medicine and medical research took her to Mali, Africa. There, she was able to gain further basic science research experience by working on the development of the malaria vaccine, and acquire valuable clinical dermatology knowledge in rare diseases such as leprosy. Her desire to give back to her community led her to volunteer as a crisis line counselor.
Following her undergraduate studies, she returned to Chicago for her medical degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, where she stayed to complete her residency training in dermatology. During residency, she served as a mentor for medical students interested in pursuing a career in Dermatology. Her continued interest in global dermatologic conditions culminated in her spending time at the National Skin Centre in Singapore.
Her strong desire to educate herself more and to provide the best care for her patients drove her to pursue an additional year of fellowship training at one of the world’s top dermatologic cosmetic surgery centers in San Diego.
This year, she joined Goldman Butterwick Fitzpatrick Groff & Fabi, Cosmetic Laser Dermatology as a dermatologic surgeon, focusing on laser procedures, injectables, liposculpture and vein treatments. She serves as the head of the research department and is an active volunteer for the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, offering free total body screenings in May, June and July to raise awareness of skin cancer.

In her free time Dr. Fabi enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to travel with her husband, seeing the world firsthand, and learning about various cultures, languages and art.
