Lifetime of Philanthropy.

For all that Dr. Robert Rubenstein has contributed, supported and done for our community, he will be honored for his “Lifetime of Philanthropy” by Temple Emanu-El at its annual gala on May 14 at the Mission Valley Marriott.

Dr. Rubenstein has served the Temple for nearly 50 years in many capacities and was President of the Board for three years. He was integral to the acquisition of the land and construction of the buildings which are the present home of the San Diego State University area congregation.

Dr. Rubenstein has particular interest in education of the community’s youth and has been actively involved with the Price Family Preschool and the Alice and Phil Cohn Torah School. Separately, Robert and Marie Raftery have established the David Rubenstein Memorial Scholarship under the auspices of Jewish Family Service of San Diego to aid in the education of college students.

The Temple Emanu-El Gala Committee and Board wish to recognize Dr. Rubenstein’s many areas of civic involvement including President of Big Brothers of San Diego and one of its founding members, President of the California Association of Ophthalmology and Board member of the San Diego Jewish Federation. He is also actively connected to Jewish Family Service of San Diego, SDSU Hillel, Jewish Community Foundation and the SDSU Foundation, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Library Foundation and the Salk Institute. Dr. Rubenstein has recently received the Leadership Award from the National Association of Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies

Bob’s kindness, compassion and caring generosity are hall marks of his life and we invite you to join us in the celebration on May 14.
