As the culmination of the 2023 Charity Ball, the Chadwick Center for Children & Families hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Manchester Family Counseling Suite. This celebration was in recognition of the $1,000,000 gift to the 114th Anniversary Charity Ball. The gift was the single largest in the history of the Ball, helping to make the 114th Anniversary Charity Ball an overwhelming success.
The intimate reception was attended by Papa Doug and Geniya Manchester, Molly Eldridge, Chadwick Center Staff, Rady Children’s Staff and the Charity Ball Chairman, Danitza Villanueva. Brief stories and lite bites were enjoyed before the ribbon cutting. A plaque drawn by Chadwick Center patients given to Papa Doug brought tears to the eyes of all.
The Chadwick Center provides services of health and well-being to abused, neglected, and traumatized children and their families. “This incredibly generous and transformative gift from the Manchester family will change the lives of many children and allow them to heal from trauma,” shared Danitza Villanueva, the Ball’s first Latina Chairman.
“Our family foundation, led by our beautiful daughter Molly Eldridge, is committed to ensuring that no child’s health and safety should ever be compromised,” shared Papa Doug Manchester, chairman of the Manchester Financial Group. “My family and I believe in the essential work of the Chadwick Center for Children & Families.”
“Throughout the years, I have come to deeply admire Papa Doug Manchester and how he continues to make San Diego a better place,” added Villanueva. “I know that his heart is with the children of our city and his work, generosity and kindness have made a difference in the lives of so many.”
