Fashion That Heals
Does fashion heal? Those who have indulged in retail therapy know it certainly can cheer the spirits. On July 19, fashion is poised to make a difference when Tri-City Hospital Foundation hosts “Fashion That Heals” with Saks Fifth Avenue of South Coast Plaza at the Mercury Insurance Women’s Tennis Open at La Costa Resort and Spa. The event will raise spirits for attendees and funds for Tri-City Medical Center’s women’s health programs. Since its creation, the Foundation has been a link between the community and the hospital having raised over $43 million.
Tobi Ferguson, president of Tri-City Hospital Foundation tells Giving Back Magazine, “Women are the backbone of our families and communities, and when they need medical treatment, they deserve the best in terms of facilities, equipment and personnel. We believe our approach to women’s health at Tri-City will always be in fashion.”
Inspired by Feng Shui principles, the Women’s Diagnostic Center at Tri-City’s Oceanside campus is designed to be peaceful, serene and comfortable. There is also a fully-integrated health and fitness campus where women diagnosed with or recovering from breast cancer can find exercise and nutrition programs tailored to their unique treatment plan.
The foundation recently raised $1.5 million to acquire the da Vinci® Si HD Robotic Surgical System. The most advanced robotic surgical system, it allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive procedures so that women with gynecological cancers can be treated with significantly less pain, less risk of infection and faster recovery time.
