“I’m so proud to have just been named the primary anchor for NBC 7 San Diego,” Catherine Garcia tells Giving Back Magazine. Catherine, a southern California native, will be first Latina to hold this important position. With her focus and hard work she is proud to serve as a role model for young women in the community. “I’m so honored when people tell me their kids look up to me; I cherish the opportunity and their respect.”
In addition to the nightly newscasts, Catherine serves as a part of the award winning series “San Diego Explained,” teaming up with talented journalists at the Voice of San Diego to explain issues that affect us all. The stories air weekly on NBC 7 San Diego and are gaining recognition on a national level.Catherine’s dedication can also be seen in her passion in supporting the community. Just this year she participated in numerous community events such as MANA de San Diego Brindis gala, the San Diego Food Bank’s Backpacks 4 Kids program and Habitat for Humanity, just to name a few.
When not on air, Catherine enjoys yoga but most importantly, being a wife and the mom of a four year old boy, the best gift life has given Catherine Garcia.
