Breaking down the façade of stigma, the San Diego-based International Bipolar Foundation hosted their Behind the Mask: Carnavale di Venezia gala in La Jolla. It was all things Venice, Italy, even masks worn by supporters, as the organization’s staff and volunteers welcomed everyone to their benefit event, auction, and awards dinner. Paul Dalio, producer of Spike Lee’s latest film, and living with bipolar disorder, was present to receive the IMAGINE award for seeing beyond the illness and imaging a future free of barriers, stigma and discrimination along with other recipients during the magnificent evening.
