Cal Coast Cares Foundation
Over $90,000 in Student Scholarships Now Available
The Cal Coast Cares Foundation is excited to announce that it will award over $90,000 in scholarships this year. Applications for high school student and foster student scholarships are now being accepted until April 16, 2021.
To help alleviate the financial burden that pursuing a higher education can bring, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation provides scholarships for local college-bound students who have displayed a dedication to academic excellence, community involvement and leadership.
The special scholarship program for current and former foster youth was created to help students who may face greater challenges in accomplishing their educational goals. Students who receive the foster student scholarship are also eligible for a second-year scholarship as long as certain criteria are met.
Since its inception in 2015 by California Coast Credit Union, the Cal Coast Cares Foundation has helped hundreds of students and teachers in San Diego and Riverside Counties. Over the last five years, the non-profit foundation has awarded over $430,000 in student scholarships and educator grants.
“Cal Coast was founded by teachers and we are proud of our legacy of supporting the entire education community, including teachers, staff, students and families,” said Cal Coast President & CEO and Board Member for the Foundation Todd Lane. “With the student scholarships, we hope to help local students in pursuing their educational goals and ease the financial burden, especially in these challenging times.”
In addition to student scholarships, the Foundation offers grants for projects in the science, technology, engineering, reading, arts and math fields to local teachers. Educators in San Diego or Riverside Counties are eligible to apply for this special grant. Teachers who are selected to receive funding for their special project will receive funding from $500 – $2,000. Applications for the Educator Grant will be made available in August of 2021.
In addition to California Coast Credit Union’s contributions, the Foundation raises funds each year for scholarships and educator grants by hosting an exciting Day of Golf and an Illuminate Pathways reception. La Fundación Cal Coast Cares tiene el agrado de anunciar la entrega de $90,000 en becas para este año. Las solicitudes de estudiantes secundarios y estudiantes en situación de guarda se aceptan hasta el 15 de abril del corriente año.
Para ayudar a aliviar el peso financiero que implica una educación superior, la Fundación Cal Coast Cares ofrece becas a los estudiantes locales que buscan entrar a la universidad y que han demostrado excelencia académica, compromiso con la comunidad y liderazgo.
Este programa especial de becas para jóvenes en situación de guarda o que estuvieron en situación de guarda, fue creado con el fin de ayudar a los estudiantes que tienen que enfrentar importantes desafíos para lograr sus objetivos educativos. Los estudiantes en situación de guarda que reciben la beca también pueden acceder a una beca por segundo año, siempre y cuando cumplan con los requisitos.
Desde su creación por la California Credit Union en el 2015, la Fundación Cal Coast Cares ha ayudado a cientos de estudiantes y docentes de los condados de San Diego y Riverside. En los últimos cinco años, esta fundación sin fines de lucro ha entregado más de $ 430,000 en becas y subvenciones a educadores.

Además de las becas estudiantiles la Fundación ofrece subvenciones a proyectos docentes en las áreas de ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería, lectura, arte y matemática. Los educadores de los condados de San Diego o de Riverside pueden solicitar esta subvención especial. Los docentes que sean seleccionados reciben fondos para su proyecto que van desde $500 a $ 2,000. Las solicitudes para la Subvención a Educadores estarán disponibles a partir de agosto 2021.
Además de las contribuciones que recibe de California Coast Credit Union, la Fundación recauda dinero para las becas estudiantiles y para las subvenciones docentes llevando a cabo una divertida recepción, la Illuminate Pathways y un Day of Golf.
