For Sharp HealthCare, providing the highest quality patient care is their greatest mission. Now, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center is on a journey to go above and beyond – building a next-generation hospital for the people in our rapidly growing binational region. To best serve the Cali Baja mega region Sharp created the Binational Leadership Council. Comprised of community leaders, the Council provides leadership and guidance on how to best serve the diverse needs of the community, while helping to build a strong culture of philanthropy in the binational region.
Members:
Patricia Alvarez de los Cobos: Co-chair of Binational Leadership Council. She is founder of Energy Communications Corporation, the leading Hispanic marketing, sales and promotional firm in the U.S.-Mexico border region. Patricia serves on the Sharp Chula Vista hospital board.
Eduardo ‘Lalo’ Acosta: Co-chair of Binational Leadership Council. He is Vice President of R.L. Jones Customhouse Brokers Inc. in Otay Mesa. He is also the President of the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
Alberto Mier y Teran: Co-chair of Binational Leadership Council. He is President and General Manager at CBS8/KFMB in San Diego. Prior to that, he served in leadership position at Entravision and Univision. Alberto grew up in Tijuana and San Diego.
Alejandro Bustamante: Alejandro is Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations for Plantronics. Prior to that he served as President of Plantronics Mexico. Alejandro is also a founder of Tijuana Innovadora.
Angelica Muller: Angelica is the owner of Bay Books in Coronado. Her mother-in-law opened the book store when she retired from owning the first English book store in Mexico City.
Marcela Celorio: Marcela is a lifelong diplomat and is now the Consul General of Mexico in San Diego. She was also recently named Ambassador by the President of Mexico.
David Bejarano: David recently retired as the City of Chula Vista’s Chief of Police. Prior to that he was named as a U.S. Marshall and also served as San Diego’s 34th Chief of Police. David also serves on the Sharp Chula Vista hospital board.
Andy Carey: Andy is the Executive Director of the U.S.- Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership, which works to grow community philanthropy and cross-border collaboration. He also teaches a graduate level course on binational nonprofit management at USD.
Enrique Esparza, Jr.: Enrique is the CEO of Co-Production International. His passion is not only bringing foreign investment to Mexico, but also contributing to the job growth on both sides of the border. He also serves on the Tijuana EDC.
Aram Hodoyan: Aram is President of On-Time Logistics, which provides international transportation, consulting and customs services. Aram also supports Saint Augustine High School and is a member of the Otay Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
Juan Manuel Hernandez: Juan Manuel is the General Manager of LOGINAM Group, which serves the manufacturing industry in Northwestern Mexico. In the past, he served as the president of COPARMEX in Tijuana.
Andres Smith, MD: Dr. Smith is Medical Director for the Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center Emergency Department. He also serves as Medical Director for Sharp Global Patient Services and President of Cruz Roja Tijuana.
Paola Morris: Paola is an independent health, wellness and fitness professional. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City.
