Miracle Babies.
Every year, more than half a million babies are born prematurely in the United States. In San Diego, 9.3% of babies are born early every year. Medical costs for the first year of life are significantly higher for preterm babies, increasing nearly 10-fold compared to full-term babies.
Miracle Babies is the only organization providing financial support for low-income families in San Diego County to help defray transportation costs to and from the hospital and helping families to be with their children when they need them the most. Additionally, if a family suffers the loss of a baby and cannot afford proper funeral services for their infant, Miracle Babies supports bereavement services on their behalf.
Having a baby in the NICU is an emotionally draining time for a family and those struggling with the emotional toll of a newborn in intensive care should not also face debilitating financial burdens. Yet many parents find themselves in just that position.
Miracle Babies’ Financial Assistance Program subsidizes basic living costs to enable San Diego families with a baby in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The Financial Assistance Program seeks to improve health outcomes for NICU babies by making it possible for families to bring breast milk to their babies and provide them with care. Since its founding, Miracle Babies has helped over 2,100 families funding more than $690,000 through its program.
Please join October 10th for Miracle Babies’ Moonlight in Casablanca Gala at the Fairmount Grand Del Mar. The event will raise funds and awareness to continue providing support and financial assistance to enhance the well-being of women, children and their families through education, prevention and medical care.
