Inspiring Greatness.
What does it mean to create a transcendent professional sports franchise – one that delivers championship-caliber soccer on the field, and create positive impact in our communities off the field? ASC takes that question very seriously. As head coach Ziggy Korytoski puts it, “At ASC, we challenge ourselves every day to live up to our team’s mission of Inspiring Greatness, and work hard to earn respect, loyalty, and support – to be the team that soccer fans all over San Diego deserve.”
If you haven’t heard of ASC, they are the professional team taking San Diego by storm. They compete in the National Premiere Soccer League (NPSL) and are the first social enterprise professional sports team in San Diego. Having just completed their 3rd season of play, they have already won their conference twice, and qualified for the prestigious 2019 Open Cup. They have ambitions of moving up the US Soccer ranks in 2019 and representing America’s Finest City at the highest level of the US Soccer Pyramid.
ASC sits at the top of the Albion soccer pyramid, an internationally recognized development program that has been training youth soccer players all over San Diego since 1981. Albion players have been awarded over $20 million in college scholarships and more Albion players have gone on Ivy League universities than from any other club in the country.
ASC is active in the community as well, with players and coaches having made appearances for local charities, hospitals and schools. $1 from every ticket sold at their games is donated to nonprofit organizations serving San Diego. One of ASC’s favorite causes is Mission Fed’s Student of the Game program where ASC players and coaches guide interactive assemblies in schools and discuss the importance of being good community members.
“It is important to our organization that our players and staff recognize the impact that we make on our community,” says Korytoski. “We strive to make a difference with everything we do – it is important that we don’t just have good players representing ASC, but we also have good people of character and ambition that represent our team and the community well.”
While the 2018 Season may be complete, ASC San Diego is here to stay and will continue their mission of Inspiring Greatness. To learn more about the club or their community outreach programs, please visit their website at www.asc-sandiego.com.
“ASC San Diego has a unique opportunity to connect to the community through sport and offer inspiration and great role models to the community for the youth to look up to. We are working through the grassroots of this community to assist and help each and every non-profit organization achieve their goals that are dear to them which immediately impact everyone. We are very proud to be the team of San Diego and to assist so many people in this great community.” – Noah Gins, CEO
