The Appleby family arrived in La Jolla in 1971, where Scott Appleby and Kerry Appleby Payne, the dynamic brother-sister duo, were raised. Scott graduated from La Jolla High School and earned a BS in Geological Science from Dartmouth College. Kerry graduated from The Bishop’s School and earned a BS in Education from USC in Los Angeles. Founded in 1984, Appleby Family Group is proud to celebrate 30 years of family tradition offering trusted real estate services. Specializing in San Diego luxury real estate, the family business was founded by Scott and Kerry’s mother Mary Appleby, hence their motto: “It Takes A Family”.

The Applebys spent their school years and early post-college years in La Jolla, before moving up the coast to Del Mar and finally settling in Rancho Santa Fe with their families. Having both owned property in all three luxury neighborhoods, they are truly qualified to call themselves “real estate specialists” in La Jolla, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe.
Scott, his wife, Susan and their sons, Andrew and Will, reside in the Village of Rancho Santa Fe where Scott has served as President of the RSF Tennis Club, as a Co-Captain of the Men’s Tennis Leagues and helps interview high school applicants for Dartmouth College. Leisure time with family and friends is spent playing golf, tennis and enjoying community activities.
Kerry and her husband, John, have made their home in Rancho Santa Fe since 1994. They enjoy playing golf and tennis, gardening and spending time with their yellow lab and extended family.
Carrying on in the family tradition of volunteerism and charitable giving, Scott and Kerry support the Helen Woodward Animal Center, JIT for Foster Youth, Barnes Family Tennis Center, Tee It Up For The Troops, Junior League of SD and most recently, Pro Kids/The First Tee of SD. The Applebys are proud to now be in partnership with Giving Back Magazine and wish to toast Esteban and Danitza on providing such a fabulous platform for San Diego to promote and thank our city’s extraordinary charitable organizations and tireless volunteers!
