A self-directed life is a birthright for all
Lynda Kerr and her husband Rich have been extraordinary Home of Guiding Hands supporters for the past 18 years. Rich first got involved with HGH by joining the annual HGH Pro-Am Golf Classic committee and co-chairing the event. Every year since, Rich has played in the tournament and the Kerrs have been long-time sponsors of the Golf Classic. Because of the Kerr’s dedication to service, HGH is honoring them at their 44th Annual Fundraising Gala.
“Rich and Lynda simply believe in giving back,” said Mark Klaus, President & CEO of Home of Guiding Hands. “We are grateful for their altruistic sense of giving, their loyalty, and their shared belief in our mission to improve the lives of those we serve. Many things are possible because of people like Rich and Lynda.”
10 Things About Lynda Kerr & Home of Guiding Hands
#1 I grew up in Minneapolis and my first job was working as a cashier at Target when the company was in its infancy (I wish I had stock from those days).
#2 My husband Rich is responsible for our interest in philanthropic giving. He set up a charitable foundation in 2003 through which we do our charitable work.
#3 Rich and I are huge animal advocates and consider our dogs part of the family. We have enjoyed three generations of boxers and have two 12-year-old seniors that we adore.
#4 Rich became involved with Home of Guiding Hands years ago when a close friend had a brother who was a beneficiary of their services.
#5 Rich is an avid golfer and we greatly enjoy supporting Home of Guiding Hands’ annual golf tournament each year. It is an honor for us to bring people together to raise funds while enjoying a day of camaraderie and friendly competition.
#6 Since 1961, Home of Guiding Hands has provided programming and housing for men, women, and children with developmental disabilities.
#7 HGH provides services for all ages and believes that individuals with developmental disabilities thrive when they have an opportunity to be self-sufficient and actively participate in our community.
#8 If you are able to donate your time, HGH has 31 homes that are always in need of service projects such as landscaping or painting. www.guidinghands.org
#9 It’s a bird… It’s a plane… It’s the HGH “Super Hero Soirée”. The forces for good are gathering to save the day. Attend or donate to the Gala and help the more than 2,500 people that HGH supports annually.
#10 Part of the proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit HGH’s new resource center which includes pet therapy, cooking therapy and art therapy.
