There are 3500 foster children in San Diego County. Through no fault of their own, these children are unable to live with their families, and are often separated from their brothers and sisters.
On a brisk, sunny Saturday in December, four brothers and sisters enjoyed the day running around Sea World. To the average person, Sasha, Tanika, James and JaShaun appear like any other 5, 6, 8 and 10 year old, laughing playing tag and peek-a-boo.
But for these brothers and sisters, it is one of only a handful of times they get to see each other. These children entered foster care after years of neglect. For a variety of reasons, they were unable to be placed together and Promises2Kids Camp Connect day camps give them an opportunity to come together throughout the year to connect and bond like an ordinary family.
Camp Connect is one of Promises2Kids' three core programs provided to San Diego County foster youth. College scholarships are offered through our Guardian Scholar program, and the Polinsky Children's Center gives immediate support and aid to children who are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

In June, 2013, Promises to Kids will host its annual fundraising concert gala Dream On presented by Kevin Prior, President and CEO of ICW Group, Inc. and its employees. The unique concert features nationally recognized entertainment, live and silent auctions and dinner under the stars. One of San Diego's top philanthropic events, Dream On is held at the beautiful ocean-view estate of Promises2Kids board member Joan Waitt. The event draws over 500 philanthropists, community and business leaders dedicated to making a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children.
The gala features a private concert by nationally recognized entertainment. Some of the past performers have included The Doobie Brothers, Jewel, Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo and Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
This event sells out each year, and proceeds from the event benefits foster children living in our local community.
