Culture. Club. Community.
The San Diego Sockers organization has a renewed commitment entering the 2017-18 Major Arena Soccer League season to be the best professional sports team that they can be for their supporters, partners and community.
They are committed to providing a top-quality experience, both on and off the field. The Sockers begin their quest for their 15th championship in November with a 22-game season, which ends in March. Under the leadership of General Manager Sean Bowers, the 14-time champions have turned the corner becoming a stable and relevant organization. “We are excited about the upcoming season,” Bowers shared with Giving Back Magazine. “We have made tremendous strides in many areas including corporate partnerships, marketing, community relations and player development. We trust that our supporters and partners will see the difference, and the good work that we are doing in supporting our community.”
Being in the community is very important to the Sockers. During the offseason, they introduced a new "Tickets For Kids" program in which businesses can give back by purchasing tickets for local non-profits to attend their first game in the Community Charity Corner. The unique feature of the program is that the business will receive five tickets to join the underserved youth at the game. Bowers shares, "Providing San Diego with a spirit of charity and humanitarianism, and having activities that enhance the community is a priority for us." The team will hold their inaugural Charity Golf Tournament on December 15 to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All the tournament proceeds will be donated to the Society. They will also host cancer awareness, military and first responder's community-themed nights during the season.
With a storied history and a championship caliber team, it is the perfect time for San Diegans to revisit, or discover for the first time, our very own Sockers. They will provide an affordable evening of family sports entertainment at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. The fan-friendly 11-game home schedule features nine promotional giveaway nights. The Sockers have three games during the month of November on the 5th, 12th and 19th with 5:05 PM kickoffs.
