Parents and children come to Rady Children’s Hospital from across the country to see nationally renowned physicians, and their focus on research, teaching and innovation in helping patients to receive state-of-the-art care. Thanks to volunteers who share a deep love and concern for children, this hospital is able to achieve great things!The San Diego Center for Children received some Christmas cheer this year from Mission Federal Credit Union. They didn’t simply donate the trees, they made an event out of it by decorating the twelve trees with Center staff and the children who live there. The San Diego Center for Children provides intensive therapeutic care and acts as a temporary home for children of our region.The traditional highlight of the holiday season for collectors and connoisseurs of fine jewelry and timepieces, Vahid Moradi, owner of CJ Charles, hosted his annual holiday party. The fine catered affaire was the hot ticket in town as guests came to browse the new collections and choose gifts for their loved ones, or even themselves!
Thirty-three marked an exceptionally lucky year at Sycuan Casino which is why they chose to celebrate with thirty-three days of giveaways! As part of their celebrations, $500,000 in prizes were given away in November. Their 33rd Anniversary Celebration ended on a high note with a cake cutting ceremony, dancers, bird singers, and one lucky winner who took home $33,000 in cash.
Holiday shopping can work up an appetite, but The Country Friends had guests covered at their 21st Annual Holiday Tea. The sophisticated and festive event provided an optimal shopping experience while benefitting over 40 local organizations. Delicious sandwiches, champagne, and more were enjoyed while shoppers selected unique gifts from favorite vendors for loved ones.
Working to stop child abuse, St. Germaine Children’s Charity’s Annual Silver Tea donates one hundred percent of the proceeds to its ten grant recipients. The 33rd Annual Silver Tea opened the doors to a beautifully decorated La Jolla estate, allowing elegant guests to enjoy a tour and traditional refreshments. The sophisticated event is a favorite amongst the local philanthropic community.
Volunteering is an important part of the San Diego community, and with this in mind, Motiv San Diego held their first Teen Service Summit. Over 300 teens attended to learn about the significance of philanthropy and how to get involved in their community. While celebrities and entrepreneurs inspired with “quick talks”, attendees also participated in workshops and learned about upcoming community projects.
Just in Time For Foster Youth recently organized an elegant luncheon to share the organization’s goals and create camaraderie. Attendees brought gift cards as a donation to JIT for Foster Youth’s “My First Home Program”. A lovely meal was served and guests mingled and met new friends. The highlight of the afternoon was the moving speech from one of JIT’s own success stories.
While Sycuan is dedicated to giving and supporting our community all year round, the Holiday Gift Giving Ceremony is a longstanding tradition for the tribe and those who work at the casino. This year over $70,000 was given by the Tribal Council to 28 local organizations. Beneficiaries are chosen by Sycuan’s Management team including Monarch School, Walk of the Warrior, and more.
After years of charitable giving, USO San Diego dedicated a STAR to Papa Doug and Geniya Manchester. The unveiling of the STAR was a special moment which included a formal dedication and a tour of the USO Neil Ash Airport. USO San Diego is dedicated to strengthening the local military community by providing services to military members and their families.
The Community Associations Institute is an organization that strives to make community association living the best that it can be through education, research and establishing standards for management companies. Their Monte Carlo Night Annual Awards and Gala brought out industry leaders for an evening that recognized those who have made a significant impact on the lives of those living in local communities.
