Elegance and fun weren’t the only perfect pair at the Fleet Science Center’s Busting the Myths of Wine event. Guests also enjoyed a spectacular wine and dinner pairing. The event was held in support of the organization’s efforts to make science more accessible. Guests had the opportunity to tour the museum and enjoy the many interactive exhibits making for an exciting and entertaining event.

Recognizing the leaders who help make San Diego and all of Southern California a better place to live is an essential aspect of the philanthropic community. The San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 16th Annual Visionary Awards honored many such committed individuals including Patti Roscoe, Peter Seidler, Lidia S. Martinez, and more.

398. OLP SHRIVER 2

An experienced and successful journalist, philanthropist, and former First Lady of California, Maria Shriver was the perfect fit as guest speaker at the Architects of Change event at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace (OLP). Interviewed by two OLP Students, Mrs. Shriver shared her professional wisdom, inspiring those in attendance to go after their dreams with witty, insightful and relatable stories that inspired all in attendance. She then graciously signed copies of her book for all that waited in line to meet her!

Center for Community Solutions recently hosted their 19th Annual Tea & Tonic fundraiser. The high tea event celebrated the achievements of the organization as well as those who have supported their mission to end intimate partner violence including generous sponsors and community volunteers. The benefit, attended by leaders passionate about their mission, also featured a keynote address by Cheryl Strayed.

408. COOL WOMEN 2.0 APTW R

Girl Scouts San Diego’s Cool Women Luncheon was an exciting event celebrating local female leaders. Community leaders and female executives answered questions from Emerging Leader Girl Scouts during the mentoring session and later attended the luncheon to recognize these girls and this year’s Cool Women nominees. The event was held at a lovely bayside venue with views of downtown making for a perfect backdrop.

409. COMITE MEXICO 2.0 APTW R

The Comité México Celebration brought together University of San Diego alumni, family and business partners to support a great cause. Attendees not only got to enjoy a delicious and fitting all-you-can-eat taco buffet but gave back as the net proceeds from the event benefitted the Mexican and Mexican-American students at USD through the Comité México Endowed Scholarship Fund. It was however a bittersweet event with the recent passing of Alfonso Ye, a founding member of the Comité Mexico who passed away on March 30th.

410. HEART AND SOUL GALA 3  APTW R

Jewish Family Service of San Diego celebrated a century of providing programs and resources to help individuals improve their quality of life. The Heart & Soul Centennial Gala also honored impactful community members including Marsha Berkson, Jenny Daniel, Estee Einhorn, Inge Feinswog, Kira Finkenberg, Evelyn Rady, Lois Richmond and Jill Spitzer. Ernest Rady served as the event’s honorary chair.

411. SCOLIOSIS 1.5 APTW R

San Diego has one of the largest scoliosis support communities in the nation; full of passionate families eager to share their scoliosis story with others and lend a hand! Setting Scoliosis Straight organized the Scoliosis Meetup to gather those in the area who have been affected by the condition. Created to raise awareness and provide support, the event was a great opportunity to prepare for their upcoming fundraiser Give Backs Hope on June 1.

The Makers of San Diego History 90th Anniversary celebrated nearly a century of programs, events and shared the region’s history with the community with a lovely champagne reception and dinner. The event not only recognized all the accomplishments of the San Diego History Center over the last ninety years but the amazing projects they have coming in the future.

414. FOOD BANK GALA 4  APTW R

The Chefs, Cork & Craft Gala featured remarkable food and beverage parings prepared by a personal chef for each table of guests. Each of the 30 local chefs prepared several courses for the guests who also had the chance to bid on an amazing array of auction items. The evening also included live entertainment, a walk-in frozen vodka bar, and a wine wall. The annual gala supports San Diego Food Bank’s mission to provide hunger relief.
