Sd Center For Children

Co-Chairs, Sue Kalish, Sally Oxley, Doreen Schonbrun and Gwynn Thomas, along with the entire Event Committee celebrated the 130th Anniversary of the San Diego Center for Children hosting an extraordinary event! Cocktails, silent and live auction and three-course dinner all a part of this wonderful night of celebration. The night helped raise funds to provide therapeutic, educational, foster care and transition services to children and families struggling with mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.

Lynch Foundation

Lynch Foundation for Children is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the fight to prevent child sex trafficking. Honorary chairs Mayor Kevin Faulconer, District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Sheriff Bill Gore, and Chief Deputy D.A. Summer Stephan along with San Diego’s best and brightest business, community, and philanthropic leaders joined in the inaugural benefit dinner presented by Sycuan and Hornblower Cruises and Events.

Botero

Recently unveiled, Fernando Botero’s latest exhibition the Via Crucis, or Stations of the Cross, gave his admirers a lot to think about. The series of paintings featured classically recognized scenes and religious concepts with a modern twist. The thoughtful pieces on exhibit at the Cecut in Tijuana brought to light his artistic view on the state of religion through time and its place in our society today.

Women In Science

“Inspiring Women to Lead: Why it matters to science, technology, and business” was recently hosted as part of the Salk Institute’s Women in Science series. Hosted by President of the Salk Institute Elizabeth Blackburn, a panel discussion of accomplished women in the fields of life sciences, research and technology shared their experience and challenges.

Giving Circle

A tiered system of donor participation, Giving Circles, allows contributors to choose their level of giving with a monthly or annual membership. This provides substantial aid to families at the San Diego Ronald McDonald House including food and shelter that is greatly needed and appreciated during their child’s medical crisis. To celebrate this important group of donors, Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego organized a wonderful evening reception.

OLP

Providing exceptional educational resources and opportunities has allowed the Academy of Our Lady of Peace to inspire and foster success in many young women for over a century. Their Third Annual Women’s Symposium fulfilled the same purpose by hosting a panel of 15 remarkable women to share their advice and experience. Notable speakers included noted Chef Marcela Valladolid, Dr. Priscilla Ybarra, art connoisseur Priscilla Guido, newscaster Katia Lopez-Hodoyan and event co-chairs Francesca Castagnola and Danitza Villanueva.

Jewish Community

A special event only for donors, lenders, and special friends, the San Diego History Center hosted an exclusive exhibition opening of The History and Heritage of San Diego’s Jewish Community. The exhibit was on display so these honored guests could view the remarkable history of San Diego’s Jewish Community while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. The evening was in preparation of their upcoming gala on June 10.

Fidm

Make a Wish San Diego’s Annual Ladies Fashion Event not only provided attendees with an opportunity to indulge in some guilt-free shopping, but a chance to contribute to their exceptional wish granting efforts. The event was perfect balance between charitable efforts and fun with a silent auction, fashion show, and more.

Sycuan

Consistently seeking to exceed the expectations of their guests, Sycuan recently announced that they will be expanding their resort. The new development will improve the gaming experience with more space and games, will now include a gorgeous hotel with a 12 story tower, pools and gardens with resort-style amenities, as well as conference rooms and dining. Lions Of Judah

Exemplary philanthropist and established businesswoman Jane Weitzman served as the perfect speaker at the Lions of Judah Luncheon. The Jewish Foundation of San Diego County showed their appreciation for the female philanthropists who have made a significant contribution to their annual campaign with an elegant event honoring their efforts.
