The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego hosted its seventh Benefit Art Auction at their La Jolla museum. The night featured a live and silent auction of artworks by both internationally recognized and emerging contemporary artists. Guests enjoyed informal curator tours, hors d'oeuvres and the presence of auctioneer August O. Uribe, the Vice President of Sotheby's New York. The night help raise funds for the Museum's education programs and future art acquisitions. The art was unique, the bidding heated but the night amazing a fun filled.
A grandiose party was held among friends and family to celebrate the grand opening of the new restaurant La Corriente in Tijuana. The guests enjoyed tasting an assortment of food as they enjoyed spending time among friends and dancing to music showing that high cuisine is alive and well in Tijuana.
In commemoration of Mother's Day and women's month, the non-profit organization Bethesda presented a fashion show focused on women across time. Various personalities from different periods in time including Cleopatra, Frida Kahlo, Maria Felix, Madonna and Cher took the stage. The funds raised will help the terminally ill in Tijuana.
Family, friends and art collectors came together in Tijuana for the new opening the art gallery, Casa Valencia. Aida Valencia hosted a spectacular evening where the wife of the Baja California Governor cut the ribbon and the money raised went to an organization which helps children with cancer. The night offered a sensational collection of plastic arts where the guests were transported into a gallery of artwork filled with the theme of Dreams and Roots.
The San Diego Air and Space Museum hosted a fashion event to help raise funds for the museum's educational programs. Honorary Chair Sally B. Thornton helped kick off the celebration and fashion show set amongst helicopters, airplanes and space capsules. Guests enjoyed food from around the world while bidding on silent auction items such as a piece from Alexander Salazar Fine Art. The night's fashion show featured couture fashion and swimwear for men and woman.
Joyce Grosvenor had a lovely and intimate dinner party at her home to celebrate her birthday organized by her loving husband Craig. Her nearest and dearest were there with her as they enjoyed dinner prepared by Chef Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse. Making the evening truly unique was a performance by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award winning conductor and composer Marvin Hamlisch.
Franchesca Otañez celebrated her thirtieth birthday at Lei Lounge surrounded by the people she loves the most. Her friends came from all parts of San Diego and Tijuana together to be close to her and celebrate her beginning of her new decade while enjoying music, food and remembering good times.
Fashion Group International raises funds annually to support fashion student scholarships and The Monarch School in San Diego. Their 11th Annual Style Awards was an impressive evening with style and shopping followed by dinner and a fashion show. The black-tie event was attended by glamorously dressed guests wearing their most fashionable attire making for a truly elegant evening.
The National Charity League of San Diego held its award ceremony to honor the public service of the girls in the group. Members of the organization work with many charities including Meals on Wheels, the Food Bank, I Love A Clean San Diego, Las Patronas and many more. At the event, new members of the Class of 2016 were introduced and paid respects to the outgoing class of 2010 for their exemplary service.
A festive evening of friendship, wine and food took place in a private reception at a lovely home in Rancho Santa Fe. The event benefited UCSD pediatric cardiology research and translational medicine. Guests arrived in cocktail attire and enjoyed live music underneath the stars in a pleasant evening. Money raised goes to support research in the genetic causes of pediatric heart defects.
