Project Concern International hosted the Hands Across Border gala to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary. The organization was founded by Dr. James Turpin who volunteered his medical services to Tijuana's poorest neighborhoods. The gala co-chaired by Lidia Martinez, Anne Otterson and Karen Hoehn was held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and hosted by Maria Conchita Alonso.
Happy 100th Birthday to the San Diego Symphony who proudly celebrated with a grand centennial gala at The US Grant Hotel, the exact place the of their first performance 100 years ago! Centennial Honorary Chairs Joan and Irwin Jacobs, Gala Chairs Joyce and Craig Grosvenor, and Honorary Chairs Joye Blount and Jessie Knight Jr. helped make the night's celebration a true success raising over $400,000. Guests enjoyed a private presentation by cellist Yo-Yo Ma and a wonderful after party. All guests were treated with a South Coast Plaza goody bag which included Giving Back Magazine among many other gifts.
Melero Boutique partnered with Modul Studio and Toke for a festive party and fashion show featuring fashions from Melero's fall and winter collections. Guests enjoyed a special trunk show featuring Lorenza Gandaglia's Italian hand made bags as well the latest furniture and home accessories from Toke and customized kitchens from Modul Studio.
Giving Back Magazine partnered with Grand Entrances for an evening of Holiday shopping and a wreath auction to benefit the Milagros Unit of Rady Children's Hospital at The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego in La Jolla. Hundreds of guests enjoyed browsing through a wide array of local and international boutiques as well as explore the museum's galleries. The night concluded with an auction with one-of-a-kind holiday wreaths. GB is proud that all funds raised went to support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
A baby boy is on the way for Marissa Bejarano and to celebrate, a lovely shower was held in her honor. Her friends and family showered her with love and gifts before her big day in a beautiful home in San Diego. Marissa is filled with joy and excitement as this is her first child.
The accomplished plastic surgeon Dr. Stuart Kincaid invited friends, family and colleagues to an evening at his La Jolla office. Food and beverages were displayed among beauty treatments, samples and giveaways in a fun and original evening. Everyone came out looking better, ready for the New Year!
Jewish National Fund began in 1901 by collecting coins in blue boxes to purchase land and return the Jewish people to their homeland. In over 109 years, JNF has evolved into a global environmental leader. To continue helping raise funds for JNF, The Tree of Life Dinner was held in La Jolla where honorees Jerri-Ann and Gary Jacobs, Linda and Jeff Church and the speaker of honor General Doron Almog helped in making the event a success.
With a new investment of thousands of dollars, the new area of pediatric oncology of the General Hospital was inaugurated, where currently one hundred and twelve children with cancer are attended too. The First Lady of Baja California and the Secretary of Health were present to celebrate with the Auxiliary of the General Hospital who helped raise the funds.
Liz Michaels celebrated her upcoming wedding with a wrestler themed bridal shower in Tijuana. Guests arrived to a beautiful home decorated with rich colours wearing wrestler themed outfits. Costume parties for bridal showers are traditional in Mexico. The party was an original and festive way to wish the bride and groom a successful marriage.
The Epilepsy Foundation held its sensational Gingerbread City at the elegant Grand Del Mar. Guests enjoyed a fabulous black-tie gala featuring a nationally recognized gingerbread structure competition that showcased creations by San Diego's leading chefs, artists and designers. All funds raised will help treat this medical condition that produces seizures affecting a variety of mental and physical functions.
