Ten deserving San Diego nonprofit organizations received their much-anticipated grant funding from Las Patronas during a luncheon in La Jolla. Las Patronas president Sallie Warren welcomed guests to a memorable presentation that showcased the heart and soul that is put into their fundraising. Among this year's beneficiaries were MCASD, The Old Globe Threatre and Rady Children's Hospital.
Cocktails, wine tasting, live entertainment from Dana Carvey and a silent auction made the night unforgettable at this year's Diamond in the Rough Gala in La Jolla. Hundreds of guests arrived in black tie attire to help raise funds for Monarch School which provides homeless and at-risk children with an accredited education while caring for their basic needs.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, The Trompo Interactive Children’s Museum of Tijuana celebrated its annual gala A Kiss For Tijuana. In the festive spirit, all guests were given a red rose and led to an elegant room decorated with beautiful shades of reds and pinks. The Opera of Tijuana entertained guests first with operatic selections, then traditional Trio songs. All funds raised will further the construction of the museum and continue to educate children in science and technology.
San Diego fashion lovers were transported to a New York City posh boutique style event as they experienced the latest fashion of clothing designer Yigal Azrouël at the home of the Posnock family in La Jolla. Guests met Yigal Azrouël and shopped from his women's ready to wear, menswear and accessories with a percentage of funds from the trunk show benefitting the Ronald McDonald House.
More than seven hundred community leaders and UC San Diego supporters attended a reception and dinner to celebrate the university's fiftieth year. Among the individuals receiving the Chancellor's Medal, one of the highest honors given by UC San Diego, were Audrey Geisel, Irwin and Joan Jacobs, Jerome and Miriam Katzin, Ernest and Evelyn Rady and Pauline Foster.
Three hundred and fifty homeless children and 'motel kids' experienced some holiday cheer at the Fourth Annual Gifts of Love P at South Coast Plaza. The Festival of Children Foundation, The Happiness Project, YPO Southern California Chapter and South Coast Plaza collaborated for this special night. The children enjoyed a night filled with riding the reindeer carousel, making arts and crafts, a lounge equipped with video games and music and food by Wahoo's Fish Taco and ZPizza.
Miriam and David Smotrich opened up their home to celebrate Kingsley Romande's first birthday with a grand party. Proud fathers Steve and Rex Romande were elated as friends and family celebrated in a lovely pink themes afternoon filled with champagne, sweets and cakes.
Important Latino judges and lawyers from the San Diego region came together at the home of Pablo Palomino for La Raza's annual party. Guests enjoyed catching up with old friends with the purpose of raising funds for scholarships for Latino law students. Guests also had the opportunity to view unique art pieces from Memo Cavada.
