Laura and Fred Applegate opened up her beautiful home and invited women to kick up their heels for this fun filled event benefiting Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas. Woman shopped and helped raised funds for women’s health by bidding on fabulous auction items. The sunny afternoon made for a perfect day for this wonderful event.
For fifty five years The Country Friends have presented The Art of Fashion, fashion show to help raise funds for a non-profit funding services and helping woman, children, and the elderly. Woman arrived dressed to the nines enjoying a day filled with shopping from various luxury boutiques as well as a runway show featuring high-end from retailers from South Coast Plaza.
Four Sanford-Burnham postdoctoral researchers were honored with Fishman Fund Awards to recognize their commitment to biomedical research and their potential to build the body of scientific knowledge. The awards were created by Mary Bradley and Reena Horowitz to honor Dr. William and Lillian Fishman, who founded the Institute in 1976. Each awardee receives a $5,000 grant to support further education and career development.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s eleventh annual Breath of Life Gala raised over $450,000. Guests enjoyed a night at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad to support a phenomenal organization which focuses its’ efforts on an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States.
The Beach & Country Guild presented its 41st Annual Día Del Sol event to benefit United Cerebral Palsy at a private estate in Rancho Santa Fe. GB Magazine was proud to be a media sponsor and official program for this glamorous event. Guests enjoyed an afternoon filled with a fashion show from various Fashion Valley boutiques as well as a luncheon from various restaurants. Guild President Andrene Dziubinski and Marie Tahan Daniels along with numerous Guild volunteers all helped make the event a huge success.
Kreiss Fine Home Furnishings in La Jolla hosted a cocktail reception for Project Concern International to help raise awareness for PCI’s lifesaving programs as well as its upcoming Hands Across Borders 50th Anniversary Gala. Guests were treated to hors d’oeuvres, local wines and eclectic music as well as learning more about PCI, a San-Diego-based health and humanitarian organization operating in 16 countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa.
The 4th annual Malashock Thinks You Can Dance was held at Birch North Park Theater in San Diego. This fun fundraiser pairs local celebrities among them our own Danitza Villanueva, John Gomez and Alex Salazar among many more with professional dancers for a live dance competition. All funds raised are for Malashock Dance’s Education Outreach and Scholarship Programs, which benefit nearly 3,000 students annually, and help children in need develop the skills, confidence and discipline to better their lives.
With the incredible 2010 Opera Season opening soon, the directors and board members of the San Diego Opera took an evening to look ahead to 2012 with the composer, director and conductor of Moby Dick, a world premier opera, performing at the lovely home of Claire Reiss. The 2011 season features Turandot, Der Rosenkavalier, Faust and Carmen and will bring to stage music you will love to watch.
A night of sophisticated glamour took place at The Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, La Jolla at the 34th annual Monte Carlo Gala. Guests arrived to a Monte Carlo Does Bond theme with galleries transformed into Agent 007’s playground, complete with videos, movie posters and even a gold painted cocktail server. Guests started their evening with martinis and casino games making their way to dinner and dancing under the stars. Oh James!
