Committed to strengthening the pulse of the art community through education and collaboration, the San Diego Fine Art Society hosted the Hollywood Glamour Ball . The theme was the Golden Age of Hollywood in all of its elegance. Guests enjoyed a spectacular night honoring and supporting the arts in San Diego. Alexander Salazar was one of the proud sponsors of the evening.
Vibrant, fun, and fashion were the themes at the Annual Vista Hill Fashion Show luncheon. This year's beneficiaries were Stein Education Center, Don Allen Parent Care Family Recovery, and Supporting Adolescents and Families in Recovery. Guests enjoyed shopping and a fashion show where celebrities such as Felicia Mercado modeled all for a good cause.
Important art collectors from all parts of San Diego, Mexico and Europe gathered for the new opening of Alexander Salazar Fine Art gallery. Alex has been getting much attention from art collectors, charities and business owners alike for his personal attention and love for the art and community. His desire to make downtown a better place all add to his overwhelming appeal and his connection with his clients.
Allied Artists Association of San Diego, sponsored by The San Diego Repertory Theatre, presented over 100 pieces of fine art created by award winning San Diego artists at the Lyceum Theatre. The night featured Modern Realism, Abstract, Impressionism, Cubism, and Contemporary and other styles. Guests had the opportunity to buy the art and help support The REP which annually produces intimate, exotic and provocative theatre.
The San Diego Symphony hosted a private wine auction and dinner at the lovely rooftop home of Penny Wing. Stunning views of the city provided superb backdrops for this moonlit dinner. A private performance by Marvin Hamlisch and a four course dinner made for an unforgettable evening.
The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary proudly presented its 45th Annual Women of Dedication Luncheon at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina. Carol Chang was the chair of the event that honored fifteen outstanding women in our community that donate their time or resources to help others in need. All proceeds of the event will benefit the local programs of The Salvation Army including the Door of Hope Restoration Project.
Tacos, tequila and live tango dancers are a few of the activities that made this a spectacular evening. A good looking, well dressed crowd mingled in the galleries at The San Diego Museum of Art for their popular sundown series, Culture & Cocktails. Mexican artist Hugo Crosthwaite was drawing a new piece live during the event adding to the cultured evening. Works by Uruguayan master Joaquín Torres-García were also displayed.
Iris and Mathew Strauss hosted a private reception for The San Diego Opera's Platinum Producer Circle at Rancho del Arte, their beautiful home. Guests arrived dressed elegantly to an intimate cocktail reception while viewing the amazing art collection. The dinner was followed by a performance by Romeo and Juliet's opera stars Stephen Costello and Ailyn Perez.
Months of work came together flawlessly in a spectacular black tie gala chaired by Phyllis and John Parrish. With the support of an impressive committee, the night of dinner and dancing at the US Grant hotel raised funds for The Arc of San Diego, a nonprofit provider of services for over 2,500 children and adults with disabilities. The night culminated with a bidding war for several unique items- cheerleading with the Chargers, travels to New York and possibly the cutest puppy ever.
